The castle of Macerino was one of the first built from the Arnolfi, to defend from the biggest of Martani mountains the valley of Torrente Maroggia towards Spoleto and the Val di Serra towards Terni.
Inside, built with stone and protect with walls and four turrets, has roman origin,like remember a fragment of an early Christian sarcophagus of IV century AD, property of Roman Matron Ponzia
