Managed and protected by the WWF, the WWF Oasis of Alviano, with its 900 acres, extended along the municipality of Alviano, Montecchio, Civitella d’Agliano and Guardea, where there is the entrance of the park, is one of the most important area of Italia.
Created after the barrage of Tevere, due the regulamentation of the waste water of the Corbara Lake further north, in one the swamped area , the WWF Oasis Lake of Alviano is composed from marshes, reeds and a vast hygrophilous wood.
The diversification of the ambients had made possible that the oasis had guests a large quantity of fauna species

Home of birdwatching in Umbria, the WWF Oasis Lake of Alviano, is characterized by two trails surrounded by nature and the possibilities of educational activities organized by the reserve managers.
The first trail is a ring of 1,5 km that partly skirts the swamp and faces into flooded meadows, for going into the hygrophilous forest. It is completely passable by the disabled.
The second trail is long 3,5 km and winds along the course of Tevere inside the hygrophilous forest and allows a more wild approach to the Oasis.
There is the possibilities to unified the two trails in one tour approximately of 7 km.
The reserve is dotated of twelve poststations for birdwatching: sheds, a tower and also one room inside the swamp.
The Oasis is one of the places more appreciated for the people who love naturalist photographs in Umbria.
