If the majestic Porta Romana surprises those who come from via Flaminia, Porta Burgi (or Porta di San Francesco) which gave the entrance to what was the first circle of walls of San Gemini, charms with its lift of medieval architecture.
The door , fully realized in stone, is the most ancient entrance to the castle and it is from the XII century.
Of particular beauty is the coat of arms in low relief in marble of the Santacroce family – owner of the homonymous palace beside the Duomo – placed above the arch, dating from the XVIII century.
In the intrados of the door, you can see a niche with one fresco.
