The Church of Santa Maria in Ciciliano in Montecastrilli stands on a hill, with views sweeping from San Gemini to Narni, where the ancient Castle of Ciciliano once stood.
The Church was owned by the Arnolfi family and it was donated in the 12th century to the Abbey of Farfa, then passed in emphyteusis to the Monastery of Santa Chiara in 1779.
It is built with a single nave and it has a façade with a gabled roof and bell gable.
The portal is surmounted by a small window and a plaque from 1779 commemorating the passage of the church to the nuns of the Convent of St. Clare.
On the right and back walls there are two Roman-era funerary cippus of the type of those produced at Carsulae.
On the outer walls there are several fragments of the Roman period certainly recovered on site and walled up during the building of the church, these are funerary cippus.

The interior is simple and has no frescoes in its present state.
A statue of the Madonna dominates the altar; the presbytery is slightly raised and built on massive stone blocks.
