For one side in the center of a little square , in the past part of the Agostian’s convent , and above Porta Tuderte (or Porta San Giovanni) there is one of the most ancient and suggestive church of San Gemini: the Church of San Giovanni Battista.
Built in roman style in 1199 by Nicola, Simone and Bernardo, like report an inscription, has a particular facade , embellishment by a door with a cosmatesque frame and two doorposts which are on crouched lions which recall the contemporary Abbey of San Nicolò.
The bezel above shows two manly bearded faces which represents the papal and imperial power. Above the bezel a mullioned window and on the left side a little window.
