Going up from San Francesco square along the viale Canova, past the Porta del Sale, keep going along the pretty streets, you arrive at the entrance of a little church built against the building which emanates the scent of the middle-age.
The Church of Santa Caterina was part of the complex of the Convent of the Poor Clares of San Gemini which today houses the Museum of Opera of Guido Calori.
Built, with the convent, around the XVI century from some fervent young who placed themselves under the rule of Santa Chiara of Assisi, was dedicated to Santa Caterina d’Alessandria.

The actual building comes from the new edification made in 1723 , the year where the church was placed under the patron of Laterans Canons of what preserves the arm of the coat which sourmounts the entrance door.
The interior of the church is in baroque style: in the major altar there is a painting of 1650 of “Mistiche nozze di Santa Caterina” attributed to Lazzaro Baldi.
