Not far away from Porta Romana along the via della Misericordia which insist on the old trace of via Flaminia towards Narni, there is a permanent expositive place dedicated to the spread of the Science of the Earth: the Geolab of San Gemini.

The Geolab: positive space dedicated to the science of the Earth

Famous now the motto that in Geolab is forbidden don’t touch: more than a museum, is a kind of laboratory , and hosts a series of interactive machines which guide the visitor to scientific observation and experimentation.

The visit is made through five rooms, along a path which, like a progressive approfondition, takes the visitor to the discovery of the structure of the earth, to the reading of the landscape and of the principal geological emergency of Umbria.

The exhibition is made by the Mizar of Paco Lanciano and the video of the presentation of Piero Angelo introduces the topics which will be discussed.

The first room opens with the discovery, thanks to a special lens, of the division of the earth in big plates. Then you enter the center of the earth, to see how the interior of our planet is made.
In the second room the visitor, with the help of an interactive model, discovers how the mountains were born, why the earthquakes are unleashed and where the vulcani are formed…
With the third room you arrive at the geodynamic events of the Mediterraneo area and of Italy.
The fourth room is dedicated to the birth of Umbria, the fossils and the microscopic exam of the secret of rocks.
In the fifth room you can know the principal events and places of geologic interest of Umbria.

The Geolab is a big adventure, a place rich in stimuli and emotions where you can actively participate through original and fun experiments.
