Built in the medieval age, on top of a hill, which on one side looks towards Acquasparta and on the other side towards Todi, Configni tells, already in its name (confinium, confini) its history.
Together with the Castle of Montalbano, the village it must have been thought of as a line of revenge and defense from the threats of Todi on the Terre Arnolfe, which Configni became part in the year 1000.
Around 1207, the village was under the control of Narni, offering a candle for the celebration of San Giovenale and, after passed under the control of different lords, such as Orsini in 1629 which edificated two fortness for desidre of Pontifical State, went back under the Narni’s control in the first half of the eighteenth century.
About the old castle little remains, but characteristic are the two fortresses and part of the walls.
The Church of Santo Stefano in Configni, was built in the XIV century and now is a totally rebuilding of the old, made during the year 1950 and unfortunately unusable for the earthquake.
