At the highest point of the staircase that divides the castle of Santa Restituta in two, stands the bell tower and the Church of Santa Maria Novella.
The church – built above the palace of the Captain of the People of Todi – according to tradition was donated, as an oratory dedicated to Santa Maria Novella, by Federico Cesi il Linceo to the community at the beginning of the seventeenth century.
In 1615 welcomed the relics of the Saint from the Church of San Michele and the baptismal font of the Church of Santa Maria in Gallazzano (an ancient parish church in the center of the castle that no longer exists today) and in 1627 it was consecrated to worship by the bishop of Todi who dedicated it to the devotion of Santa Restituta.
The entrance is lateral to the unique environment with the main altar made of painted wood from a church of Melezzole. Next to it there are two other altars.
The building preserves some frescoes of the fifteenth century and a statue of the Madonna del Pero.
