A walk through the historic center of Avigliano Umbro suitable for adults and children to discover what are the most important points of the history and art of this ancient castle.
Arriving in Avigliano from via Roma you immediately notice the figure of the Clock Tower, a city water reserve, located inside the Municipal Garden: here you can leave your car and start the itinerary within the walls of the castle of Avigliano.
Walking towards the center a cylindrical medieval tower welcomes us and, on the left, Piave Square with the murals of the project Avigliano Variopinto.
From via Montegrappa you enter the village until you cross via Settimio Vici with the homonymous Palace and the splendid Church of the Holy Trinity and its frescoes that can be admired during the opening hours.
The walk goes on toward Porta Vecchia( The Old Entrance): one of the few monuments that are still visible in the circle of medieval walls.
Leaving the Old Entrance you reach the magnificent Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
IThe tour arrives in Theatre’s Square, beating heart of Avigliano with bars, pizzerias and above all the view towards the beautiful Municipal Theatre in Art Nouveau style.
For those who want to know the spirit and tradition of the village, the walk can be extended to the building dedicated to the patron saint, the ancient Church of Sant’Egidio.
