Together with the tower overlooking Piazza Piave, on the panoramic side that looks towards Terni, we find Porta Vecchia (The Old Entrance) that gives its name to the homonymous street and is dominated by the effigy of the Aquila Todina (Todi’s Eagle).
The symbol, an eagle that protects two smaller eagles which represent Amelia and Terni, was imposed on all castles under Todi’s power by decree of the priors on February 10, 1577.
