On the right of the possent Porta Romana, passage along the second circle of walls of San Gemini for who come from the old Flaminia, there is what was the Santacroce Palace, today the beautiful Hotel Duomo – Grand Hotel, with the entrance on the side of the Duomo.
Built between the 1729 and the 1730 after the purchase of the duchy from the prince Scipione Publicola Santacroce like a residence of this noble roman family, Santacroce Palace was traded in 1920 to Carlo Violati, founder of the society of the mineral waters which made San Gemini famous all over the world, and turned into hotel the follow year.

A park with a garden and its green contribute to giving the residence more charm and beauty.
Inside the palace a big honor stair , brought to the noble floor where the family realized a living room , fully covered by works.
In the paints in the walls were represented some episodes of the Gerusalemme Liberata of Torquato Tasso which with its themes adapted well to the exaltation of the family Santacroce, both for the message linked to the themes of honor, of chivalry, of noble war and of fight against Muslims, both for a celebratory intent of the family: in Jerusalem in fact are conserved the remains of Santa Carose.
