The frescoes and the Cardinal Altemps

For different time it was think that the palace was of the property of the Cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps owner of the Castle of Rocchette placed nearby, now in Lazio, because in the central fresco of the Hall of Honor there is his noble arms of coat.

Recent studies linked the realization of the building to Giovanni Felice Salvatorio Nicolini from Calvi, who from Altemps was administrator and collector on behalf of the Apostolic Chamber.

Original are the grottesque frescoes of the Hall which, as in different noble residences of that time – see Cesi Palace in  Acquasparta,  or Petrignani Palace in Amelia – were the trend of that moment , inspired by the discovery of the frescoes of the Domus Aurea of Nerone.

Interesting in the medallions are the four passages which represent the property of the commitment : in one is possible to see Calvi like it is seen from the Hermitage of San Gerolamo.

The building now is a private residence.
